To custom fit the Adjustable Bunion DaySplint™
to your foot, unbutton the toe strap from the
arch bandage and open the bandage by releasing
its Velcro® fastener. Slide the bandage on snugly
around the middle of your foot and adjust it so
the Velcro area is positioned on the bottom of
your foot and the side button faces the outside
of your foot. Slip the toe cap over your big toe
and position the oval foam pad directly over your
bunion. (Note: This foam pad is removable in case
you find it uncomfortable.) Pull the strap down
along the inside of your foot, directly through
the opening in the side of bandage. Then stretch
the strap around your heel and up the outside
of your foot. Select one of the various button
holes on the end of the strap and button the strap
so it provides enough tension to comfortably straighten
your crooked big toe. If the Velcro fastener and/or
the end of the toe strap are too long, carefully
trim them with scissors.
Limit initial usage periods to 30 minutes each.
Gradually wear splint for longer durations and
increase band tension as comfort level improves.
Results will vary based on the severity and nature
of the condition. Wearing the splint regularly
can reduce discomfort and pain while possibly
slowing the progression of bunion deformity.
